I did not like the ending of the movie because I felt that it left a lot of questions unanswered. I would have liked to know: did any of the people that escaped survive? Did the boy that Paris gave the sword of Troy to get away safely with the sword? Will the people of Troy be able to rebuild the city some day since (I'm assuming) they still have the sword of Troy?
I thought Briseis was a virgin Priestess, she was found in the temple praying to Apollo, so why did she sleep with Achilles?
And my last question from the movie, why didn't anyone ever look tired?
You ask good questions about what happens to the characters post the Trojan War. Actually almost all of them are subjects of other myths. For example, Helen returns to Sparta with Menelaus; Odysseus is lost at sea for twenty years before he reaches Ithaca (THE ODYSSEY). And Aeneas who takes the sword of Troy manages to re-build TROY is Italy (Virgil's AENEID.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't anyone look tired? :-) After all, they have only been at war for ten years.
Aaaahhh... Hollywood movies, based on books, poems, etc., and the director's ability to change a little of this and a little of that.
ReplyDeleteI believe the director wanted to add that romantic element, which I think helped endear the viewer to the tortured hero Achilles even more (being Brad Pitt didn't hurt, either). He was known as the brutal warrior, yet had this soft, romantic side. (swoon)
